What an incredible and exciting time for our fair city! I have totally embraced this Olympic Experience and I think its about the greatest thing that has ever happenned!
I've been to a speed skating event at the oval, the Canada - Norway Hockey game and am heading up to Whistler this Saturday for a Sliding event. Been downtown a couple of times and the O zone several times. I've been to the Heineken House here in Richmond a couple of nights and was lucky enough to partake in one of their Gold Medal Celebrations. Those Dutch go wild for their skating heroes and its quite a party! And what a good group of people they are as well. Super friendly and so happy to be here. The outdoor skating trail at the O zone is also something everyone should do.
And in between all of this I have been a volunteer driver for VANOC guests.
I am so pleased to see how the locals have risen to the games and are showing their patriotism and Canadian pride. The pre games grumbling about high costs and traffic congestion has disappeared. Everwhere you go you see people decked out in Canadian Olympic apparel and waving Maple Leaf flags.
Needless to say, I am fortunate that the real estate market has taken a breather at this time, as I seem to have not much time for work, just sneaking in the odd bit here an there.
We have been blessed with unbelievable weather that showcase our beauty. I've met so many people from other countries and they are so impressed with our area, this can't help but do us a world of good.
Its going to be wierd next week when we get back to normal, but I'm thinking with the Canadian Government's new policy on down payment requirments for buying real estate (a minimum of 10% down will be required as of mid April as opposed to 5%) this will spur first time buyers to act quickly and we should see a flury of acitivity on entry level properties.
So everyone get out and enjoy the rest of the week, it's a once in a lifetime experience that won't be here again for a long time.
